11th & 12th Grade Parents: AP EXAMS
Your 11th or 12th grader is preparing for an Advanced Placement (AP) exam in one or more of his/her classes. The successful completion of an AP course is a mark of academic excellence on a high school transcript. In order to successfully complete the course, students are expected to take the AP exam.
We need to collect student testing fees by March, 18, 2011 so that we may order your student’s exam. The fee is $79 per exam and while we recognize this is a lot of money, we think the experience justifies the expense. Furthermore, many students qualify for financial assistance.
There are many reasons to take the AP exam:
Taking the exam allows students to earn the AP designation on their transcripts
Taking the exam is required to earn the 1 point bump in GPA
Passing the exam can save families thousands of dollars by earning students college course credit
Passing the exam is an impressive academic achievement for any student
Passing the exam suggests college-level achievement and affords college-bound students greater opportunities of access to college, as well as advanced placement in a college courses
Taking the exam is an opportunity for students to experience college-level of rigor
Your student is enrolled in the following AP course(s) and expected to take the following AP exam(s):*
* AP Environmental Science (May 2nd, 2011) (11th & 12th graders)
* AP Government (May 10th, 2011) (12th graders only)
You will be receiving a letter in the mail with more information about your student's fees - please look for it.
Please make checks payable to: City Arts & Tech and return by 3/18/11.
If you have any questions, please email your student’s AP teachers directly or you can call the front office to speak with an administrator. Thank you for the continued support of your child in this exciting endeavor.
